The questions were addressed. We were almost on the agenda for May 13, 2025, but then a re-submission for an application regarding the applicability of the Wetlands Protection Act was requested. This had expired Jan 2025. The application, documents, and fees were submitted 5/12/25 and we are hoping that our project will be discussed in the Lexington Conservation Committee meeting on 6/10/25. 

Please pray that our application will make the agenda in June and will be favorably received.

In the last month, Elder KC requested an in-person meeting with the Town of Lexington Conservation Committee director. Afterwards, on April 18, 2025 we received an update that their Environmental partner finally conducted the updated peer review of this project. They reported significant progress but cited a few outstanding issues which would require further clarification or minor plan revisions (specifically clarifying connectivity of catch basins and watershed plans, plan for impervious areas and phosphorus removal calculations for the updated storm water design). Our Site Designer and Site Design Consultant submitted the updates. The reapplication might be added to the agenda for the Town of Lexington’s next Conservation Committee meeting on May 13th. 

Please pray for the site designer and site design consultant, and that our project will be included, and reviewed favorably at the May 13th town meeting.

Praise God, the site contractor finalized the updated quote of the new water flow design plan and instead of over $1 million for the initial plan, the updated one is estimated at <$500,000.

Please pray, we are still waiting for any updates from The Town of Lexington Conservation Committee (LCC). There have been no updates from them since our last correspondence Feb 12, 2025. Each week we follow up with them.

We pray for improved communication, advocacy and progress. We pray for patience as we continue to trust in God’s perfect timing, even if we do not completely understand it.

The Lexington Conservation Committee (LCC) depends on the Environment Partner (EP) to assign an external reviewer to review the new site plan. The LCC was not clear if a new external site reviewer has been found.  

The Town Of Lexington Conservation Director on behalf of the EP requested some updates to the documentation previously submitted.  The Site Designer and Site Design Consultant updated and submitted her requests Feb 12, 2025. We are waiting for their reply.

In parallel, we are waiting for the material price from the site contractor to finalize the updated quote of the new water flow site design.

The Lexington Conservation Committee unfortunately no longer has access to the external site design reviewer they were working with. They are now looking for a new reviewer, and since it is a very specific skill set, the last time they looked it took months. The future site design reviewer will need to assess the updated plans that we submitted, prior to being re-presented at the Lexington Conservation Committee.

We are disappointed by this update as we have been working with this external site design reviewer for over a year. Please pray the new one is found quickly, catches up efficiently and does not request too many changes.

While waiting, we will start finding site contractors for updated quotes based on the new water flow design.

On Dec 18, 2024, the new revised site plans for stormwater management and permit applications were submitted to the Lexington Town Conservation Committee.

The Lexington Town Conservation Committee only meet every other week, but if they do not have quorum (due to travel, illness, holidays, schedule conflicts), they do not meet. We also do not know how many other proposals are being discussed at each meeting.

Please pray for prioritization for our project and an expedited and favorable reply. We praise our all-knowing God, who has perfect timing.

"A swale is a grassy depression that controls stormwater velocity and infiltrates runoff where feasible. Swales are typically used to channel stormwater from a street or sidewalk to a rain garden or basin."

The initial proposal was very expensive for remediation. We are working with an internal professional land and water engineer to come up with other strategies. This may or may not include a swales and a design approach of "porous parking" which allows reduction of expensive subsurface pre-treatment and chamber systems. Praise God that the Lexington Conservation Committee members and external peer reviewer did not object to the new approach. The engineers and general contractor are finalizing site designs for formal presentation.

My home church Evangelical Chinese Church (ECC) in Seattle, WA had a small sister congregation north of Seattle and they had been renting a space for years until this one came on the market. The new space has a multipurpose gym. They're hoping to have activities every night to welcome the local community for volleyball, pickleball, ping-pong and...zumba (here is my mom, back right corner-sorry Mom!) :)  And the other photo is another younger group setting up for volleyball. 

We have a thriving table-tennis ministry at CBCGB that meet in the basement at least 3-4 times a week- with a wait list! I was encouraged to hear that ~70% on the list are non-believers. I can only imagine how a future space like this could be used at CBCGB. 😊

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”  Matthew 9:37-38 ESV
